This enclosed area is home to a diverse array of pinned endemic species, including: Lesser and Greater Flamingo Blue-Billed Teal Cape Teal Red-Billed Teal Yellow-Billed Duck Fulvous Whistling Duck White-Faced Whistling Duck South African Shelduck Spur-Winged Goose Cape Shoveler Red-Knobbed Coot Our goal is for these endemic species to breed within the sanctuary, with their offspring returning to nest in the hide year after year. During the winter months, when water is scarce, this location becomes a reliable water source, attracting many wild birds seeking the benefits of a predator-free environment and abundant meals.
